About the mouse test

Press the left, middle, and right mouse buttons in the test area. Move the pointer to see its position, trail, and the update rate observed by your browser. Scroll in each direction to test scrolling.

The Hz estimate uses movement events received in the most recent second while the pointer moves. Browsers may group or delay events, so this is not calibrated hardware polling rate, DPI, or latency. Buttons and scrolling can also be intercepted or supplied by a touchpad. Results stay on this page.

Mouse test FAQ

Which mouse buttons can I test?

The test area shows the left, right, and middle buttons separately. Each button stays marked after you press and release it.

How do I test pointer movement?

Move the mouse inside the test area. The position displayed above the area shows the coordinates received by your browser.

How do I measure the mouse update rate?

Move the mouse continuously inside the test area. The Hz value estimates the updates your browser received over the last second; it disappears when movement stops.

How do I test vertical and horizontal scrolling?

Scroll up and down inside the area. For horizontal directions, use a touchpad, a tilt wheel, or hold Shift while turning the wheel.

How do I start again?

Select Clear results. The marks and last input reset; results are not sent to a server.
